Educated at Penyrenglyn Junior School, Porth County, Carmarthen Teachers' Training College and Cardiff College of Physical Education, Edward also has a BA from the Open University. Edward taught at Porth County then became Senior Physical Education Advisor for Mid Glamorgan Local Education Authority. During the war, Edward served in two Burma campaigns, attaining the rank of Major and was awarded the Burma Star. He is currently the President of Rhondda Schools Rugby and the Vice-President of Treorchy Rugby Club. Edward is Chairman of the Council's Audit Committee and has represented RCT on Age Concern and Sportlot. In 2003-2004, Edward was Deputy Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf. His interests include the elderly, health and wellbeing, business and environmental issues. Edward has been active in promoting the interests of the ward. Edward is an experienced and knowledgeable councillor.
